Roobaroo....
Updated on May 28th 2006:
When I wrote this post, I was in the phase where I had gotten past appreciating the lyrics to trying to appreciate the music (yes, that's the order I follow), hence, missed out on the effect the lyrics can have on one. I shall avoid doing so now as well.
However, I cannot resist linking to this post on the music of RDB that I ran into on a blogsurf.
Dheemi aanch pe tu zara ishq chadha
Very well written.

Ae Saala, abhi abhi......
Hua yaakin....
Ki aag hai, mujhme kahin!
I've been listening to this song from Rang De Basanti over and over again for the past 3-4 days and I just can't get enough. Awesome lyrics which make you believe in yourself, rendered in a way that I can only describe as magical.
How can someone know adding funny sounds which I can't even put into words (goes something like "Rrrrroookoookoookooo") in the background, would make it so much more pleasant to one's ears?
Aandhiyon se jhagad rahi hai lau meri,
Ab mashalon si badh rahi hai lau meri...
My layman's knowledge of music prevents me from describing the various musical elements that this song includes, but even as a layman I can perceive the movements, the perfect mix of a variety of vocals which make this one of the best songs I've ever heard.
Way to go A.R.

Think of some Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for songs dude...first guesses would be lyrics, singer's voice, singer's voice in the 'difficult to sing' sections of the song, chorus music, instrumental music. Vaise I heard someone saying the other day that the tune of this song and a couple of others in RDB in copied. Not sure though.
