Indian Idle

Poll time: In the past couple of months have you been asked to vote for someone on the TV show Indian Idol? This could be in the form of:

  • Status message of someone you talked to over IM.
  • Received as an Instant message.
  • Received as an email to yourself or a group of people.
  • Received as a message on an online community you are part of.
It's happened to me at least 10-15 times over the period mentioned and I'm quite sick of it.

First of all, why should I vote for anyone for anything just because they hail from a city that I've spent a few years in? That's a break down of the entire democratic setup that has been put in place.

Secondly, how vela (idle) are Indian people anyways? How many of these people go and vote for the Parliamentary or Legislative Assembly elections? If they did, we probably would have better people making laws and less of Arjun Singh type Reservation fiascos.

ha!..probably that's why its predictable when a Rajkumar's death rattles a country but Medha Patkar's fast-unto-death has no takers. Its the chinese curse, 'may u live in interesting times', at work.

I thought that was a Chinese greeting, not so much as a 'curse'.
