Kaise kaise log....

I sometimes think it's a curse to be born with a rational mind. You try to analyze the possible causes of a particular effect, or reasons for a person's behaviour, but sometimes you just can't figure it out, cos there's an irrational mind somewhere in the equation, which you're just not equipped to understand.

One might say that you could pick up patterns of irrationality much like Holmes did when he solved the mystery of the scheming woman, madly in love with her married employer. It's elementary, my dear Watson.

However, I'm not talking about the kind of irrationality that is usually attributed to women. There, irrationality refers to a way of thinking other than one's own and probably a term coined in chauvinistic days. In general, women are far from irrational. They have the most scheming of minds which probably take into account a lot more than our male brains are capable of without practice, as in the case of Holmes. Some might lack intelligence of the conventional sort, but the scheming and conniving comes naturally.

That kind I sort of understand, with my education in Holmes and snippets of "Why men can't.... " type books narrated to me or quoted by various friends. Some women take it to a different level, though. Given past events and conversations, one would rationally deduce that I have a right to be pissed, as I was erred against. However, by some deuce of convoluted logic, either they convince themselves that they have been erred against or (the scheming kind) try to pretend that one has erred against them in some manner that should be obvious.

Anyways, individual people do not bother me, even though they might keep putting in an appearance to elicit an apology. It's the phenomenon that is extremely intriguing to me. I have to put on my Holmes boots to figure out what their thought process works like. Is it actually irrational behaviour or a higher level of rational behaviour which I do not comprehend? It's time to sit back with my pipe and tabac and ponder over the problem......

We're all 'rational' sometimes, and 'irrational' at others, aren't we? Most 'irrationality' is actually just rational thought, just based on different parameters. Figuring out the parameters to which the other person operates usually helps in dealing with the frustration of having to put up with irrationality - did that make sense?

Well, Thought Collector, that's what I would like to be certain of. Whether all supposed irrationality is only a rationality based on different parameters or a different phenomenon altogether. For the most part it is the former. It's the edge cases that need to be evaluated, if that makes sense.

hello. i've mostly enjoyed myself here, considering that you are a fellow hyderabadi, but this post seriously put my nose out of joint!
irrational?
scheming?
conniving?
lacking in conventional intelligence?
hello?

@Isis: First of all, thank you. Glad you've enjoyed yourself, and I hope you continue to do so in the future.

Scheming and conniving are the only two traits I have generalised and I stand by it. What varies is how these qualities are utilised.

With the others, you might need to read a little more carefully,

Irrationality: "the kind of irrationality that is usually attributed to women"

Lack of conventional intelligence: "Some might lack intelligence of the conventional sort"

I am not trying to make a chauvinistic statement here, so the feminists should hold their guns and try to comprehend the undercurrent of the post. It's a style commonly used (most often by some feminists when they generalise the behaviour of men) to abstract out identities.

how un-originally cliched. i bet all your scheming never nets you a girl.

The goal isn't to 'net a girl' as you put it, and I'm definitely not scheming.
The intent is to understand women and how they think so differently, and I'm sad to admit that 2 years since this post, I don't think I'm any further in understanding them!
